What can you do during your stay at Camping de la Vègre?

In the heart of the Bocage Sarthois, camping de la Vègre is ideally situated to recharge your batteries and explore the surrounding area, discovering local specialities and taking a deep breath of fresh air during a hike combining wild nature and historical heritage. A holiday that promises discovery and relaxation!

Village of Tennie

Set in a bucolic setting bordered by the river Vègre and its sublime lake, where you can enjoy a spot of fishing, this small village is home to numerous shops, a market and a range of activities to liven up your stay in the Sarthe. For history buffs, the Church of Saint-Corneille-et-Saint-Cyprien, dating from the Romanesque era (11th and 12th centuries) and listed as a Historic Monument, will not go unnoticed! There are many beautiful walks to discover along the forest paths and theme trails.

Hiking tours

There’s nothing like a breath of fresh air in the heart of nature to recharge your batteries!
There are several signposted footpaths where you can walk at your own pace. Take in the beautiful panoramic views as you stroll through woodland, ponds, countryside and heritage sites. Take a day out and follow the double loop trail along the Vègre (20-minute drive from the campsite – departure from Loué) and admire the rich biodiversity and ancient heritage. A great day out for all the family!

Getaway to Sillé-le-Guillaume

Just a 15-minute drive from the campsite, this charming city of character, with its origins in the Gallo-Roman era, is a town rich in art and history where you can escape for a day. Situated on the borders of Maine, Brittany and Normandy, this ancient stronghold has survived the centuries and is still home to sublime buildings such as its castle and collegiate church dating from the 11th and 13th centuries. Set against a natural backdrop, the town was once a thriving trading centre, thanks in particular to the many pilgrims who passed through here, the remains of which are still preserved today.

Lake of Sillé

Not far from the town, in the heart of a forest, take the time to visit Lac de Sillé (listed natural site), a sublime 32-hectare lake offering a wide range of activities: fishing, kayaking, swimming, pedal-boating, sailing, horse-riding… Climbing enthusiasts can take to the rock at Rochebrune or Saut du Serf. Everything you need to enjoy a real nature break in an idyllic setting. Bars and restaurants will be on hand to satisfy your appetite.

Château de Sourches

On a historical note, discover the Château de Sourches. Situated 5 kilometres from the campsite 25 kilometres west of Le Mans, this masterpiece of neo-classical architecture and French historical landmark welcomes you within its walls and Jules-Hardouin Mansart park. This original château is now home to the Conservatoire de la Pivoine (Peony Conservatory), offering pleasant flower-filled walks in spring.

Dog sledding

Not far from the campsite, from Saint-Symphorien, Benjamin Thomelin – musher, will take you to the heart of the Petite Charnie national forest and introduce you to dog sledding through activities such as cani-kart and cani-rando and many others, suitable for all ages! It’s an activity that combines closeness to nature with an unusual adventure that’s sure to leave you with precious memories!

Ancient City of Jublains

Escape to the heart of the ancient town of Jublains, where the impressive remains of the Gallo-Roman era invite you to take a trip down memory lane. This vast archaeological site offers free access for a stroll around these emblematic monuments, between theatres, terms, churches… at your own pace!

Zoo de Pescheray

If you’re a nature lover or an animal lover, you’re in for a treat at Pescheray Zoo. No less than 90 hectares of the vast Domaine de Pescheray (a former seigniorial estate) are home to unspoilt nature and around 500 animals of 100 different species. Experience the close relationship between man, animals and nature…

Zoo de la Flèche

Just 50 kilometres south of Le Mans, stop off at the famous Zoo de la Flèche, with its immense 18-hectare wooded park and some 1,500 animals from all five continents. Make a day of it and enjoy a family outing, admiring species from the most impressive to the most unusual!
